Anglican Care’s dedication to innovation and collaboration has been recognised by three separate industry awards after they were announced as finalists in the 2017 Hunter Region Training Awards, the 2017 Aged & Community Services Awards and the 2017 Australian HR Awards.
Anglican Care’s CEO, Mr Colin Osborne said the awards were fabulous recognition for the 900+ staff that are the lifeblood of the organisation.
“It is great to be recognised in these three prestigious awards. We love to recognise individuals and teams for their outstanding achievements within the organisation and for that recognition to be on such a grand scale is an honour and a credit to our amazing team,” Mr Osborne said.
The 2017 NSW Training Awards held last Friday evening in Newcastle are judged by ten regional VET promotional committees. The Award honours and rewards the achievements of students, trainers/teachers, training organisations and large and medium employers. Anglican Care was selected as a finalist for their encouragement and training of HR School Based Trainee, Grace Taylor, who has specifically been selected in the category of Schools Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year 2017.
“Grace has been a great fit for Anglican Care. She is patient, polite and throughout her traineeship has developed both her professional and personal skills. More importantly, her confidence has grown during her time with Anglican Care and she now presents herself as a professional and self-assured individual,” said Anglican Care’s Human Resources Manager, Catherine Mordaunt.
“Even though she did not win the ultimate award, we are still so incredibly proud of Grace and everything she has achieved. She has such a bright future ahead of her,” said Ms Mordaunt.
Anglican Care employee Jacqui Culver has also been named finalists in the Aged & Community Services Awards for employee excellence. The annual Awards celebrate excellence across the not-for-profit aged and community care sector and recognise the people who contribute to the quality of life of older people and people with disabilities and their carers.
Ms Culver is a Nurse Practitioner in Palliative Care and Advanced Dementia. Her role encompasses clinical leadership, education, quality improvement and research activities as part of an advance practice role. She plays an integral part in guiding Anglican Care’s approach to delivering excellence in aged, palliative and dementia care for older people.
“This is a well-deserved honour for Jacqui. Her compassion, professional integrity and ethical conduct is well respected not just within Anglican Care but in the wider aged care community,” said Mr Osborne.
The final nomination comes from the 2017 Human Resources Awards for Best Health & Wellbeing Program. This award recognises excellence and innovation in workplace health and wellbeing programs and initiatives.
Anglican Care engaged the services of specialist WHS analysis company dorsaVi to conduct an objective and quantitative overview of the physical demands on laundry and hospitality staff using wearable body sensors. These sensors when worn by staff would send real-time movement data to the software which provided an accurate assessment of how each task was being performed. The analysis resulted in reduced manual handling injuries, a great outcome for the organisation.
“It is with great pride that I lead this organisation and I congratulate Jacqui, Grace, Catherine, the HR department and whole team at Anglican Care on this wonderful achievement” says Colin Osborne, CEO of Anglican Care.
The remaining Winners will be announced on the following dates:
– 2017 ACSA NSW Awards for Excellence, 22nd June 2017 – finalists for Human Resource Management and Employee, Jacqui Culver
– Australian HR Awards 2017, 8th September 2017 – finalist for the Best Health & Wellbeing Program.
