A beautiful new home requires beautiful artwork as the finishing touch. In a continuation of local suppliers and in recognition of his amazing work Anglican Care has commissioned local artist Paul Andrews to brighten up the walls of the newly opened facility.
Paul was commissioned to create a series of 94 works with the brief simply to depict the local area.
“Paul was asked to create artwork for the entire three floors of the building located in Toronto. The artworks were to reflect the lifestyle, the people and the beauty of Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and surrounds. This married perfectly with Paul’s style in particular his love of its beaches and coastline, its river and lake as well as the diverse cultures and lifestyles of the area,” said Colin Osborne, CEO Anglican Care.
“Paul has certainly fulfilled the brief, beyond even our expectations.”
The aim of the vibrant series was to present residents with activities and landmarks that they would be familiar with. This would, of course, assist the residents to feel at home in their new environment, promote happiness and to develop an overall sense of belonging for those in what can be a potentially overwhelming transitional period.
Sophie Woodcock, architect for the project managers Jackson Teece, is especially excited about the effect these artworks will have on the residents.
“I am confident that the artworks will have a very real positive impact to the daily lives of residents, visiting family and staff. Art has a powerful ability to engage. This series of works depicting the landscapes and daily life of the Lake and Hunter communities will resonate with people, generate conversations and evoke memories. I am proud that we have been able to work with Paul to showcase the Lake and Hunter Region, promote local talent and to achieve beautiful and contemporary art for the residents of Kilpatrick Court to enjoy,” said Sophie.
Situated in the lakeside suburb of Toronto and accommodating 147 people, Kilpatrick Court will cater for people with a variety of individual care needs including dementia specific care and respite care. It is an ultra-modern, state of the art residential aged care nursing facility and the latest addition to Anglican Care’s growing portfolio.
Anglican Care is one of the largest and most innovative providers of community and aged care, services providing excellent care and enhanced lifestyles to seniors throughout the Hunter, Central Coast and Manning Regions of NSW.
