Reinforcing their reputation as being one of the most innovative and progressive providers of aged care services in the region, Anglican Care’s new and exciting Lifestyle Resource Van will be officially launched on Friday, 28th October at Warnervale Gardens on the Central Coast.
The Lifestyle Resource Van is a modern twist on a mobile library. Anglican Care residents and consumers are able to borrow items that provide them with additional means to enhance their lifestyles.
The Lifestyle Van concept was developed to help with the continuing need to provide innovative ways to achieve positive social, cognitive, physical, sensory, behavioural and spiritual outcomes to residents and consumers across the organisation.
The funky van is equipped with items including large print reading books and other literature, DVD’s, board and floor games, knitting, music and art therapy items, together with information technology items such as iPads.
“The wide ranging nature of resources means the van will be able to assist many people on the Central Coast; from those with a dementia related illness to those who may be socially isolated. It will also have resources to cater for people from different cultural backgrounds via communication cards and links with interpreting/translating services,” said Jane Meldrum, Anglican Care’s Lifestyle and Well Being Coordinator.
Literally driven by a combination of staff and volunteers, the van will operate on a rotating roster visiting Anglican Care’s residential aged care facilities, travelling to each site enabling residents to borrow resources through a specific ‘library style’ system. The van will also visit people in the community who have been identified as needing additional support the van can provide.
Following the success of the Lifestyle Van operating in the Manning and Hunter Regions, Anglican Care are excited to expand the service into the Central Coast.
This exciting initiative is unique to Anglican Care facilities in the Hunter, Central Coast and Manning and will be available to all residential, community and retirement living residents.
Anglican Care is one of the largest and most innovative providers of community and aged care, services providing excellent care and enhanced lifestyles to seniors throughout the Hunter, Central Coast and Manning Regions of NSW.
